Kartik Khanna
Is there a way to calculate average of only the filtered rows in spotfire and not the entire underlying table Totals/Sub-Totals is also calculating based on the complete tabel but not the filtered records. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.
Shashank Gurnalkar
It looks like you are using a calculated column in the custom expression of your Cross table. If so, you may not see the expected results as the values in the calculated columns are static. Can you try to use the expression of thecalculated column as a custom expression in the Cross table
Kartik Khanna
Hey Shashank, I tried doing that as well. Unfortunately, the results are the same using custom expressions as columns or directly using calculated columns. The problem we have in Spotfire is that it calculates averages (totals/sub-totals) based on the whole parent data table and not the filtered values. I was trying to see if we could achieve it somehow using OVER expressions or some other way.
Dave Williams 2
Can you not add the attribute to the cross table directly as an average and then it is calculated as the filters change either as a custom expression or as an aggregation when you add the attribute to the table e.g. as table dimentions Avg([Attribute])
Shashank Gurnalkar
Would you be able to share your DXP file with embedded data along with the description of which columns you are using to calculate average
