Diagnosing Slow Performance

Hello,

On several projects I have encountered situations where my dashboards are slowing to a crawl after making dropdown menu selections. The culprit appears to be that after the document property changes, SF feels the need to run all of the joins/pivots/etc in the analysis afterwards. This is true even when the document property in question does not appear in any calculated columns involved in the transformations. But then I find with other document properties, I can change their values and not trigger this recalculation. Very confusing!

Is there any kind of documentation around when SF will decide to recalculate transformations Are there best practices around this that I am not aware of and causing myself all this grief as a result of not following

Any help would be much appreciated!
