Wrap Text in Spotfire

Is it possible to have a "Wrap Text" functionality in Spotfire headers as available in Excel

 

Otherwise for headers with long names, i need to expand the columns which take lot of space.

Any workaround to do the same for the Cross table "Cell Values"

Unfortunately I don't think there is. There is the "Resize Cells to Fit" option but that just increases the horizontal length to fit and does not increase the height and wrap. Additionally, that option only appies to the cell values and not to the horizontal and vertical headers.

In the mean time there is an work around, but it is little time consuming. You can give it a try using Python scripting and html. Here is the link for that. Give it a try and see

In your table, right click and select Properties > Appearance > Header row height (number of lines). Here you can increase this from 1 so that the header height will increase and header values that are too long will wrap automatically. You can adjust this height so that the columns do need as much horizontal width.

I've been looking for a crosstabs word wrap solution as well, without success. This feature would significantly add to the usablity of crosstabs in the Web Player. Hopefully Tibco will add this in the future.

In a Cross Table, you can point your cursor to the line inbetween the Header and the first row and the cursor turns into the double pointed vertical arrow. Then drag the bottom down making it bigger. The header names need spaces in order wrap nicely.

Also, you can add a line break in to column names:
