Hi,

You can replace the existing tables with the tables in Oracle by creating an Oracle Data connection or creating a data source for Oracle in Information designer andthen information linksfor those tables. You can use data panel or data canvas (which ever applicable to the version you are using), and select 'Replace data source' as mentioned in the document, so that transformations or any other steps will still be intact. But version you are using is prior to 7.11, then the only option would be to select 'Replace data table', and add any transformations again.

For 7.11 and above->https://docs.tibco.com/pub/sfire-analyst/7.11.1/doc/html/en-US/TIB_sfire...

For 10.x ->https://docs.tibco.com/pub/sfire-analyst/10.2.0/doc/html/en-US/TIB_sfire...

Regarding performance, there will be one additional step when using IL. Information Links have to interact with Spotfire Server. i.e Client -> TSS -> Data source . Where as when using Data connection, is just client and data source communication client->Data source and it also depends on resources being used. However both these methods has it's own benefits.
