For getting the expected results please place the templates folder containing the excel-template file at location:

For Analyst:

C:Users<username>AppDataLocalTIBCOSpotfire

For Web-Player:

C:tibcotsnm12.0.0

For the web-player, it is also necessary to have this template folder at the nodemanager location (in my case, it's : C:tibcotsnm12.0.0) so that it can fetch the template and show it on the web-player.
