How to customize behavior of Spotfire after connecting to a specific data source

I am new to the world of Spotfire. I have noticed that drivers/connectors behave differently after making a connection. For example, one of the data sources I have used recently opens the following dialog once I connect successfully:

 

When using a different connector, I see the following dialog after I make a successful connection:

 

I would appreciate any help in understanding why these data sources, which happen to be accessing the same backend database, display different dialogs after making a connection. Also, I'd like to understand whetherit's possible to customize the behavior of Spotfire after connecting to a specific data source.
