Spotfire Mashup using proxy not working after upgrade to 11.4 (The task could not be completed. Communication error in Ajax.request)

Just upgraded one of the environments to 11.4 (Yes a bit behind), and am getting the above error when using a proxy that's supposed to add an authentication header. This worked before the upgrade. We use a proxy to add an authenticated header with a specific user ID.

Now getting a 'The task could not be completed. Communication error in Ajax.request', and in the server logs I see:
