attaching a multi-select listbox to "color by" in a chart

I have a chart where I have chosen a column to colr by - I would select few values at a time in that column to limit the number of bars I see. I now want to take this filter and turn it into a listbox in the text area. I created the listbox but don't know how to connect it to the visualization. I chose custom expression for "color by" amd then right clicked on the docprop and selected first "insert as value" and then tried "insert as text" - nothing works. It is expecting a column name and I am trying to feed the values coming from the column - I guess this is the issue I face

I solved it by using the document property in a "limit data by expression"
