switching table in cross table visualization using property control

I have a cross table that has two value columns that I want to switch between. One of them has zero value for certain category and hence I wanted to filter out that category while showing that value column. Hence I created a second table where I used "filter rows" transform to filter out that category. I can now switch between these two tables in the legend and that category column disappears in one view and reappears in the second view. I now want to replicate the table dropdown in the legend using a property control in text area. I tried setting up dropdown property control using values like "[Table1].[Column1]" etc but this doesn't do what the legend dropdown does. I still see that category coilumn in one view with zero values. I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
