Thomas Jarratt
Hi, I am new to Spotfire so apologies for what may seem a simple question. I need to create an aggregation based on user defined entries. The output of this calculation will then be used in additional calculations. For example...in the following table I would like a user to define the Zone...for example a,b and c.. Based on this I want spotfire to create a averages....so return should be something like Category Red (a,b,caverage thickness) = 20 Category Blue (a, b, c average thickness) = 7.6 any suggestions Category zone Thickness Length Red a 10 12 Red b 20 23 Red c 30 43 Red d 50 545 Red e 80 34 Red f 12 23 Blue a 10 45 Blue b 5 23 Blue c 8 12 Blue d 20 34 Blue e 256 54 Blue f 119
David Boot-Olazabal
Hi Tom, You would normally be able to do this by using filters. If you want to make it more visibly attractive or easier to handle by end users, you could set up a text area in which you define a couple of property controls which allow the user to select from a category property (drop down list, check box, radio button, etc.) and a zone property (drop down list, check box, radio button, etc.). Then, when this is selected, you can use the selected property as a value for the axis (depending on your visualization), so the choices made will be shown in the visualization for each and every individual end user. Kind regards, David
