Create dashboard where users can choose the variables for the visualization

Hi guys,

I was given a task to create a dashboard where users can choose what kind of visualization they want to create and choose which variables to plot. Is there such features in spotfire. In layman terms, the dashboard will be flexible for users to create their own visualization and pick their desired variables from a drop down list. Perhaps using the text area function Anyone tried doing this before. Thanks in advance.

You can certainly do it with an Iron Python script and a few document properties. Text areas would only be needed to enter the user's choices. The rest you need to put into a script.

You probably want to keep it simple with a single plot in the middle of the page. In the text area you ask the user which variables they want and which plot type. Based on that you create your plot with the script.
