  • This article includes a number of Custom Connectors that have been developed to provide functionality or connectivity to a system or database until such time as Spotfire® includes an equivalent fully supported Connector.

    Overview

To connect Spotfire clients to an external system, you can use a Connector. Connectors enable you to load and analyze data from, for example, databases and data warehouses. Spotfire® ships with a wide range of Connectors.  The Spotfire® Connectors page provides information about supported database versions, data source drivers, and other important requirements, for all data connectors that are available in Spotfire.

Listed below are a number of Custom Connectors that have been developed to provide functionality or connectivity to a system or database until such time as Spotfire® includes an equivalent fully supported Connector.

    Azure Databricks

This Connector allows Spotfire® users to connect to Azure Databricks using Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) Token Authentication or an Entra ID Personal Access Token.  The functionality once connected is identical to the GA Spotfire® Apache Spark SQL Connector.

The Connector can be downloaded from the Spotfire Exchange.

    Azure SQL

This Connector allows Spotfire® users to connect to Azure SQL using Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) Token Authentication or an Entra ID Personal Access Token.  The functionality once connected is identical to the GA Spotfire® Microsoft SQL Server Connector.

The Connector can be downloaded from the Spotfire Exchange.

Spotfire 14.2 introduced an updated SQL Server Connector which now supports OAuth2 Authentication and Custom Connection Properties.  Users can now use this new Connector to work with Azure SQL Databases via SSO.  Users running Spotfire versions prior to Spotfire 14.2 can continue to use the Custom Connector until such a time as they are able to upgrade.

    Azure Synapse Analytics

Spotfire® can connect to Azure Synapse Analytics using the Azure SQL Custom Connector by entering the Synapse Analytics instance name in the server field.  No further configuration is needed and the functionality once connected is identical to the GA Spotfire® Microsoft SQL Server Connector.

The Azure SQL Custom Connector can be downloaded from the Spotfire Exchange.

Spotfire 14.2 introduced an updated SQL Server Connector which now supports OAuth2 Authentication and Custom Connection Properties.  Users can now use this new Connector to work with Azure Synapse Analytics via SSO.  Users running Spotfire versions prior to Spotfire 14.2 can continue to use the Custom Connector until such a time as they are able to upgrade.

    Microsoft Fabric

Users running Spotfire® 11.5 and above can connect to Microsoft Fabric by installing and configuring the Azure SQL Custom Connector, with Microsoft Fabric appearing as a separate choice in the list of available Connectors in Spotfire Analyst:
