Advanced analytics has been an integrated part of visual data discovery for many years. But often, only the data function developer or experts have been able to add it to an analytic application... we have lowered that barrier...

Data functions become shareable assets for repurposing across an organization. This also frees up data scientists' time to focus on higher value work, spending less time on tedious lower value custom integrations and more time on developing data functions that solve complex challenges.

Spotfire data functions typically calculate new tables and columns based on simple, or very complex, Python or R scripts, developed by analysts, data engineers or data scientists.

With TIBCO Spotfire® 11.3, it’s much easier to add existing data functions to your analysis files. This enables you to use more advanced calculations to answer more questions in more analysis files, for the most comprehensive analysis.

TIBCO Spotfire® 11.3 also includes a new version of the Mods framework, with more capabilities and features. All supported data sources are now listed in the flyout, and, speaking of data sources, the SharePoint connector now supports Automation Services and Scheduled Updates, and SAP HANA retrieves metadata much quicker with the use of SAP HANA Hints.

In TIBCO Cloud Spotfire® this is now demonstrated by the seamless integration with TIBCO Cloud Data Streams and TIBCO Cloud authentication. TIBCO Spotfire® 10.10 LTS

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.10 LTS introduces support for Python data functions in Spotfire web clients and Automation Services, data connectivity to SharePoint Online Lists and new styling options for tables and cross-tables. This release includes a new version of TIBCO Enterprise Runtime for R (TERR).

Also available in TIBCO Spotfire® 10.10 LTS are a number of ease of use enhancements including adding comments in expressions, easier management for add row recommendations, data transformation indications in the data canvas, ability to duplicate a map chart layer in another map chart and ability to maximize custom expression editor and other dialogs. On the data connectivity side, users will benefit from features and improvements related to SAP BW, Teradata Vantage, Cloudera Data Platform and IBM Netezza.

Administrators will find an extended list of PostgreSQL databases now supported as Spotfire database.

Developers get access to new APIs to customize Spotfire's top level menu and to use the current Spotfire's theme in their custom export tools.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.9

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.9 provides much awaited features such as shared dual scales, support for PostgresSQL as Spotfire DB, in addition to a number of productivity improvements in the data canvas, improvements to the map chart and improvements when working with multiple data tables in one visualization.

For Analysts, TIBCO Spotfire® 10.9 thus enables more clear visualizations when visualizing data requiring two scales, and also when visualizing data from more than one data table in one visualization. In the data access area users will benefit from improvements to the Google Big Query, Oracle and Teradata connectors. A new data cleaning recommendation saves time when dealing with dirty data with extra whitespaces.

Administrators may find support for PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server 2019 valuable, as well as Spotfire Server robustness improvements.

Developers get access to new APIs to configure shared dual scales, Python data functions and improvements to the signing of custom extensions.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.8

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.8 adds the ability to customize the Spotfire toolbar, makes it easier to view details of library items when browsing the Spotfire Library and improves the data loading user experience and progress display. This improves users productivity and these were also highly requested by users on the TIBCO Idea portal and other forums.  In addition Spotfire 10.8 adds improvements in many areas: better positioning of labels on feature layers in the map chart, transformations on the data source in the data canvas, data access to Amazon and Azure MySQL based databases, improvements to SAP data source, seamless session fail-over and simplified upgrades for the Spotfire Server and for Developers, new APIs corresponding to some of the new features.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.7

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.7 introduces native support for Python data functions, opening up for using the Python universe of machine learning algorithms tightly integrated with the visual analytics of Spotfire.

Also available in this release are a number of enhancements to the Map Chart such as zoom and pan with auto-zoom and an easier way to position images over maps. This release also solves the highly voted idea from Ideas portal, “Hide analysis pages for consumer users”. For geo-spatial use cases with streaming data, this release provides the exciting capability to calculate geographical distances using the Great-circle Distance function, which, for example, can help in transportation use cases to identify when shipments are approaching their destination, etc. There are also improvements in data access related to SAP BW and Salesforce, as well as other smaller, but valuable, improvements.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.6

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.6 adds the ability to visualize and analyze streaming data in the Spotfire web clients (Spotfire Consumer and Business Author), this is the most requested feature in streaming visual analytics since it now becomes very easy to deploy streaming visual analytics applications and dashboards to large user bases.

In addition, TIBCO Spotfire® 10.6 adds Interactive AI, a new feature that combines visual and advanced analytics that helps you analyze your data faster and easier. Interactive AI is at the intersection of visual analytics and AI, and augments the users analytical capabilites through advanced analytical algorithms that assist the user by inline display of relationships with selected data points and other variables.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.6 also includes improvements in geo-analytics when using image layers and in data wrangling with Snowflake.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.5

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.5 adds new data wrangling, data access and administration features. We continue to make it easier and shorten the time it takes to add, wrangle, visualize and gain insights from data. With row and column counts available in all steps of your data pipeline it's easier to see if, for example, a join has been configured correctly. This enables you to move on to your next activity more quickly. You can add data transformations directly from the data canvas wires. This makes it a bit more clear of where the transformation is added. When data is loaded into Spotfire, you will experience that visualizations and recommendations automatically selects more relevant aggregation methods when visualizing non-additive measures.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.4

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.4 contains improvements in data access, visual analytics, data wrangling and developer capabilities. The signature feature in TIBCO Spotfire® 10.4 is native support for Google BigQuery. With the new Google BigQuery connector you unlock interactive visual data discovery on huge amounts of data using live querying and an extensive range of analytical functions. The connector uses Google's APIs, so you don't even need to install a driver, and you sign in with your Google account in your web browser. TIBCO Spotfire® 10.4 also introduces native support for ComputeDB, the TIBCO in-memory analytics database. Based on Apache Spark and Apache Geode, it delivers high throughput, low latency, and high concurrency for unified analytic workloads.

As a TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire user you can now refresh data directly from your TIBCO Data Virtualization instances in the web client. In fact, thanks to new mechanisms in the data loading framework, data can now be refreshed directly from the Data menu of the Consumer and Business Author web clients. If a data refresh fails, the previous data is kept for the failed source.

New time saving features are also available. Keyboard shortcuts and search can now be used to quickly add visualizations, and Open from the File menu is back.

Administrators and Authors will appreciate that the user action log now collects visual analytics actions and Developers that the C# API allows IronPython scripts and C# extensions to access user information.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.3 LTS

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.3 LTS is the second Spotfire Long Term Support release and also introduces a set of new capabilities such as data connectivity to Snowflake and MongoDB, and integration with the TIBCO Live Apps low code business application development platform. TIBCO Spotfire® 10.3 LTS also improves security and governance for scripts and data functions, geo-coding coverage, APIs, data wrangling and a set of smaller but important improvements.

NOTE: Admins should be aware that TIBCO Spotfire® 10.3 LTS requires additional steps during the upgrade due to the introduction of the data function trust feature. Before upgrading to Spotfire 10.3 please read about data function trust and upgrading.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.2

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.2 contains improvements in visual analytics, data wrangling, data access, and developer capabilities. You can now change header row height in tables with drag-and-drop and use shortcuts to switch between named pages. On the data access side, you are now able to provide Azure SQL access to users without giving them access to the master database. As a SAP HANA user you are probably planning to upgrade to SAP HANA 2. If so, you will appreciate that the Spotfire connector for SAP HANA now supports the latest SAP HANA version. The in-memory data engine of Spotfire now includes the functions lag and lead in its function library.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.2 finally adds a new modern and public REST API for upload of Spotfire Binary Data Format files (SBDF files) directly to Spotfire library. This allows you to integrate your application directly with the Spotfire eco system. Combined with the open source Java and C# libraries for reading and writing sbdf, you have everything you need to push data from your applications into Spotfire, for visual data discovery and advanced analytics.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.1

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.1 contains improvements in visual analytics, data wrangling, data access, and developer capabilities. In visual analytics, map controls in Spotfire have been redesigned and functionalities are now grouped more logically. Other key enhancements include ease in sorting by multiple columns within your tables, and the ability to more easily manage and keep in view multiple markings in your visualizations. To augment today's session-based delete rows feature, we have added a new row filter transformation to Spotfire. Now you can remove rows with one click inline from filters, when importing data or later from the data canvas. You can reload both linked and stored data sources in one step in Spotfire Analyst. Also, it’s now possible to trigger a reload of multiple data tables from the Data Table Properties dialog. In addition to a range of small but frequently requested enhancements, our APIs have been updated to support all the new features of the 10.1 release.

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.0

TIBCO Spotfire® 10.0 represents a major mark in the evolution of Business Intelligence and Analytics tools. For the first time, a product covers all the four main paradigms of interaction with BI data, while at the same time providing the full capabilities of a modern BI platform. Spotfire 10 includes all consumption of BI information through dashboards, add-hoc visual analytics, canned analytic apps, predictive analytics, mobile apps, static reports and web portal mashups. With TIBCO Spotfire® 10 you no longer have to be restricted to one interaction paradigm, such as direct manipulation. With TIBCO Spotfire® 10 you can analyze your data using search, automatic insights or direct manipulation, or even modify and build your application using a workflow-based approach. The fact is that each of these user interface paradigms have their own merits and drawbacks, so you should be free to choose the one that works best for the task at hand.

But TIBCO Spotfire® 10 does not stop at providing a state of the art user experience for BI and Analytics; Spotfire 10 pushes the border of BI by letting you analyze streaming data from dozens of streaming data sources such as Kafka, MQTT, Salesforce Streaming, WITS, OsiPi and many Capital Market Exchanges, and of course other TIBCO Technologies such as FTL and EMS. With Spotfire 10, you can build real-time dashboards just as easily as you build dashboards based on static data, and Spotfire, in fact, lets you mashup streaming and historic data to give you a view both of what's happening now and how that compares with what happened historically, or it lets you bring in static data as context to the streaming data.

TIBCO Spotfire® 7.14

TIBCO Spotfire® 7.14 contains support for cascading filters when working with external relational data, additional editing capabilities in the data table workflow, numerous improvements to our OLAP and big data connectors (SAP Hana, Oracle Essbase, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services), an all new Salesforce connector with support for federated authentication, and the ability to automatically set the coordinate reference system when importing Shape files.

TIBCO Spotfire® 7.13 introduces a new automatic responsive page layout feature that adapts Spotfire pages to fit smaller screens. This makes it easier for authors to create Spotfire dashboards and applications that work well on any device, whether it is a desktop, laptop, tablet or phone. In addition, this release continues to improve self-service data wrangling by making the Add Columns (join) feature available in the web authoring client (Spotfire Business Author), and by making it possible to edit the add columns and on-demand settings from the visual data source view. Administrators and power users may appreciate the new ability to easily run more than one version of Spotfire in parallel, for example, during an upgrade process. For developers, the much requested API to trigger Automation Services Jobs is now available.

TIBCO Spotfire® 7.12 brings a whole new capability to Export in Spotfire, the ability to prepare professional PDF reports based on the visualizations and pages in the Spotfire DXP file. The prepared PDF reports can easily be exported by end users, or exported and distributed automatically through TIBCO Spotfire® Automation Services. In addition, TIBCO Spotfire® 7.12 adds important improvements in Visual Analytics such as fixed height/width visuals and text areas, the ability to maxmize a single visual and then restore it to original size, and also continues on the Data Wrangling track of "Edit everything" by introducing the ability to remove individual data sources.

TIBCO Spotfire® 7.11 LTS

TIBCO Spotfire® 7.11 brings highly requested improvements in data wrangling, cross tables, tables and maps, and it also makes the life of the Spotfire Administrator easier through improvements in scheduled updates and management of multiple Sites. Developers and application builders will enjoy the upgraded IronPython engine that now supports the latest (2.7.7) IronPython version.

In addition to the new features, TIBCO Spotfire® 7.11 has been designated as a Long Term Support (LTS) version.  LTS versions are typically supported for up to 36 months from release. For LTS versions, defect corrections will typically be delivered as hotfixes or service packs while for regular releases they will be delivered in subsequent releases.

TIBCO Spotfire® 7.10
