  • Configure log scale grids for log scale axis


    This article explains how to configure log scale grids for log scale axis

    Introduction

    Users of log scale data expect to see log scale grids on their graphs.  A visualization can be configured to display the log scale 'Major & Minor' grids using the 'Lines & Curves' feature and the attached csv file with such grid locations.

    Instructions

    These are the steps to recreate.

    1. Import attached logscale_table file into current session
    2. Open visualization properties (for desired visual) --> Lines & Curves
    3. Add --> Horizontal Line --> Line from Data Table... --> Select 'Data table with line positions': 'logscale_table' and column: 'Major' --> OK
    4. For 'Major' lines  (optional based on style preference):  Appearance: 'Gray' with thickness of '1'
    5. For 'Major' lines:  Place in: 'Background' --> uncheck 'Included in axis range'
    6. Add --> Horizontal Line --> Line from Data Table... --> Select 'Data table with line positions': 'logscale_table' and column: 'Minor' --> OK
    7. For 'Minor' lines  (optional based on style preference):  Appearance: 'Gray'; 'dotted lines' with thickness of '1'
    8. For 'Minor' lines:  Place in: 'Background' --> uncheck 'Included in axis range'
