Kip Simpson Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 As is in the title; id like to sort a table visualization based on the value of a custom expression as opposed to the values of predefined columns. For example, if I had data that represents a journey, with one column being the amount of water collected on the journey, and the other column being the distance travelled. I have an expression that calculates the average litres of water collected per kilometre travelled. i would like to have a data table visualization that sorts the journeys based on the average litres per KM. hopefully this question makes sense. I simply couldn't find an option for this in the UI and couldn't find anything online. Happy to provide further details if necessary. Thanks
Michael Kalada 2 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Well one option would be to create a calculated column in your data table as water/distance, add that column to your table visualization, and sort by that column
Kip Simpson Posted December 2, 2019 Author Posted December 2, 2019 Unfortunately I'm working with data tables that I'm not permitted to alter. However this would be a good answer for those who are not in the same situation as I am. I appreciate the response!
Michael Kalada 2 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 your not permitted to alter the table inside of spotfire I dont mean the source data i mean the table inside of spotfire. another option would be to create a cross table visualization with water and distance as category and water/distance as the calculation/value and sort by that
