Spotfire 10 Data Connection Properties

Hi,

I am using Spotfire 10. I have a scenario, where we have 300 reports accessing data from either a single or a multi data source. We need to repoint them to a new environment. We also have to check for native connectors details and repoint them to ensure there are no failures in the prod. To know and edit the connector details We are using the method of checking the data connection properties for each report by opening each one of them. Please advise if there is any better way of approach of getting to know and change the connector details instead of opening each of 300 reports.

Hello, if the connection is saved in the library then editing that will reflect in all the reports that connection is being used. But if connection is embedded in report then yes editing through data connection properties is the only way through spotfire UI. But these details are available in the AnalysisDocument.xml file(convert dxp to zip file and extract). You may have to come up with some kind of batch script by placing all the converted zip files in one folder and the script checks for the hostname and other connection detailsand replaces it in all the AnalysisDocument.xml files of each dxp file. Make sure you have copies of reports if you want to try this method, as there may be issues due toimproper XML syntax or folder structure while converting them back to dxp files.

You can search for library items based on server or database name (as long as theywere saved in Spotfire 10.x), so you could find everything that needs updating from the Manage Data Connections dialog.

The information is added as library properties so you can use the syntaxSpotfire.ConnectionSourceServer:to search for server/hostnames andSpotfire.ConnectionSourceDatabase:to search for database names.
