Sivaraman Mailappan
On Tibco Spotfire, how do i sort the values of a filter asc/desc I tried changing the MySQL query using ORDER BY for that specific column but that is not helping!
Manoj Chaurasia
Thanks @[user:28381|GCE .] I tried what you have recommended. But the column that i am looking for is DATE Type and for some reason all other columns except DATE,DATETIME column has the Custom Sort Order enabled but for this its only "Standard sort order for data type"
Manoj Chaurasia
Great response, I had no idea about this feature.
Manoj Chaurasia
The help file says custom sort is only available for type String. I inserted a calculated column that converts a date column to string, yet the 'Custom sort order' option is still grayed out. Perhaps too many values in the column Curious where this goes. Gerald Emesih 5
Edit Column Properties for your data table, click on Sort Order tab, select custom sort order, click Configure ... and you can sort the column values. This affects the sort order on the filter too.
Gerald Emesih 5
Typically dates are continuous and follow defined sequence and could be indefinite. That's probably why spofire does not let you custom -order it. However, if you convert the date column to a String format, you should be able to custom-sort it. JJ, I am not sure why you could not "custom sort" the string field. I was able to transform the data type of a date to String, and then re-arrange them. Manoj Chaurasia
I would like to do the same. If the most current date is displayed at the top of the list it prevents the user from having to scroll do the bottom to choose todays date. Very frustrating. Craig Rich
I have this same requirement. The listbox filter needs to display the current week at the top. I can't convert to string and custom order, because as new dates come in, they should be displayed at top. Seems weird to not have a Sort Desc option on date columns. Shaun Simon
As @[user:28381|Gerald Emesih] said, I used this work around a few months ago. Since I was using the data in a cross table (you could also build a hierarchy filter), I created a Year, Quarter, Month, and Day column (one column each) of DataType String. Then you apply a custom sort order to each column. It takes a few minutes, but you only have to do it once. You should only have to edit / update this every year to add the new "year", unless you are using a temp table filled with populated future dates.
