How do I count the order of Weekdays in a month

I need to automate first, second, third, etc. Sunday, Monday Tuesday, etc in each month. I can't use the Week() function since it counts weeks for the entire year.

Week([surgery Date]) - Week(DateAdd("dd",(-DayOfMonth([surgery Date])) + 1,[surgery Date])) + 1

The above doesn't give information by the weekday but by the week. Anyone have ideas for my problem
