Is it possible to aggregate data from an information link on load (instead of once the granular data is imported)

Hello Folks

Can we aggregate the data while adding data table in spotfire I have huge amount of data in my source table, and I dont want to get all of that in my spotfire (huge loading time).I am thinking while am adding my data table from data connections, there itself if i can aggregate it somehow, it will reduce my loading time + remove all unnecessary data + smaller dxp file. I dont have access to Information designer and it's being handled by another team, so this question.

Please correct me if i am wrong, applying pivot transformations at the data table level is not going to help me here, beacuse all the data is already imported in analysis file. Pivot is going to apply transformations later once data loading is done in analysis.

Please let me know if any more details required on the same. Thanks

Best Regards

Shub

With the Information designer, you should be able to perform pivoting on the server. please check the below link

https://docs.tibco.com/pub/sfire-analyst/10.3.1/doc/html/en-US/TIB_sfire-analyst_UsersGuide/id/id_pivoting_data.htm

Please also check the below KB and let us know if this helps

Also would using custom query be another possible solution

Thanks a lot Seema for your quick response.

But all the above links will work after data loading is done in analysis file, not while adding/loading them. I do not have the access to create custom SQL or access informaiton designer in any way, so was wondering if i can perform aggregations while adding data table from an existing Information link.

Thanks

Hello Shubham,

I agree with your understanding that pivoting will happen once the data is brought from the source to the Spotfire Server.

If you do not have access to the Information Designer, then you won't be able to modify the SQL query accordingly. The other option would be to use a custom query using Data Connectors as suggested by Seema and write your own aggregated SQL query.
