Manoj Chaurasia
I can't believe I never noticed this, but I need to format the labels for the "value" in my pie charts to have the thousands separator, but there is no formatting property. I tried changing the column formatting, but because I am counting the values, it isn't showing. Is there any way around this besides convoluted over columns D
Manoj Chaurasia
I know I can format the column. But there is no "formatting" property for a pie chart. Try it. Use the "count" of a string column as the size by variable in a pie chart. You have no option for formatting that value.
Manoj Chaurasia
Hi, What kind of formatting exactly you are looking for... Can you please explain your scenario Akrati
Manoj Chaurasia
the scenario is that in the chart properties under "formatting" the format can be changed, e.g. to show a thousands separator or 2 decimal places or whatever, but when hovering over a slice of a pie chart or over a bar of a bar chart that formatting is not applied. there are also no options for formatting the values of a tooltip under "tooltip" in the chart properties window. so, the question is: can the number format of a number shown in a tooltip be changed if yes, where
Manoj Chaurasia
well, that was my scenario at least. i just realized deirdre's scenario was that she wanted to change the labels of the slices of a pie chart. and i also just saw that this is not possible
Manoj Chaurasia
Actually that's not the question. I know the tooltips are a problem. There is no formatting under the pie chart properties. That is the problem.
Manoj Chaurasia
Yeah. I know. I wonder why not. It's available for most everything else.
Manoj Chaurasia
Hi, we can do the formatting of tooltip. Go to Edit then Column Properties, there when you will do the formatting of a particular column, it will reflect in the tooltip. Try this. Yes there is no formatting option in Pie Chart. All formation you have to do from column properties.

Daniel Matranga
Is there any way to prevent labels from covering up each other i.e. an option to buffer other labels by x pts
Ann Janssen
You can format the labels of a pie chart by formatting the data column. To do this, go to the "Edit" menu and select "Column Properties". Select the column that is the label on your pie chart and then the "formatting" tab which is in the middle of the dialog box. This allows you to set the format of that column which is reflected on your pie chart. Not as easy as formatting other types of visualization, but it worked for me.
