I have row of data, need an expression that will look for the word fail in any of the rows. So if the expression can not find the specific word "fail", then I want it to continue with teh calcaultion. If any of the rows have teh word fail then I want it to be null. how can this be done thanks

Hi Chris, almost there.

 

I have 10 rows of data bottom 3 rows have some controls that will say pass or fail the remaining rows are empty. if any of the bottom 3 rows have the word fail, then I don't want to calculate for the remaining 7 rows. If all three rows are pass then I want to calculate a new calculated column for teh above 7 rows. Make sense

 

Your formula is only calculating for the bottom 23 right now.

Sort of but I need to see a picture of the table. Just to see the column and row structure and what the rows with the pass/fail look like.

Basically you would do something like this: IF([Column]="Fail",null,"do Calculation")

 

[Column] is the column that contains the "Fail". The "null" is what to di if the condition is true and "do calculation" is what to do if the condition is false.

 

Could also be this way: IF([Column]"Fail","do Calculation",null)
