Raina Mortuja Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 Hi all, I am new to LiveView and Streambase. I am trying to use the data connection options in Spotfire to connect real time data using Spotfire Data Streams so as to create streaming visualizations. I cannot find any clear documentation so any help is much appreciated. Do i have to set up the streambase server or liveview desktop I have installed Spotfire Data Streams into my machine but I don't know how to proceed further.
Khushboo Rabadia Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 You will need to setup Streambase/LiveView Server. https://docs.tibco.com/pub/sb-lv/10.3.0/doc/html/lvindex.html https://docs.tibco.com/pub/sb-lv/10.3.0/doc/html/index.html#homepage Once it is setup and you have required data feeds in your streambase then you can stream that data in Spotfire using Spotfire data streams which will require connection to your LiveView server. https://docs.tibco.com/pub/sfire-analyst/10.2.0/doc/html/en-US/TIB_sfire...
Steve Barber Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Here's a very step-by-step way to get started using the Hello LiveView sample: Install Spotfire Data Streams (or TIBCO Streaming) 10.4.2 or later Startup StreamBase Studio File > New > Load StreamBase Sample > Search: hello > select: Hello LiveView > OK In the Project Explorer view, select the sample_lv_sample_helloliveview project. Right-click > Run As > LiveView Project Wait until you see this message in the Console view: *** All tables have been loaded. LiveView is ready to accept client connections. This might take a few minutes Use Spotfire Analyst 10.x and start it up Connect to > Spotfire Data Streams > New Connection Server: localhost:10080 (Note: 10080 is the LiveView Client Listen Port. 10080 was the default port number through about Streaming 10.6.1, but that is changing. See https://community.spotfire.com/questions/connecting-spotfire-analyst-spotfire-data-streams-minimal-liveview-sample-fails-unknown for a couple ways to determine what the port number actually is when running your LiveView application) Press Connect Views in Connection Select ItemsSales and Add press OK Add Data to Analysis >ItemsSales > OK Start from visualizations > Table At this point you should see a basic table that's updating as the data streams into Spotfire X.
Steve Barber Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Just a comment about this answer. The answer references documentation from StreamBase or Live Datamart 10.3.0 and the information on those pages still are accurate descriptions of LiveView Server. However, in order to visualize streams from the LiveView Server, you really should have a TIBCO Streaming or TIBCO Spotfire Data Streams 10.4.x or higher release. The Spotfire Data Streams Data Connector may try to use LiveView Server functionality that wasn't available in the 10.3.0 release of the underlying LiveView Server technology. Yes, 10.3.0 may work for some functions but eventually you may get errors as a result of the data connector trying to exercise some 10.4.x feature and not finding it.
Raina Mortuja Posted April 25, 2019 Author Posted April 25, 2019 I have already installed Spotfire Data Streams. But to make a live data connection with my own dataset, I would need to install Streambase server and LiveView server according to the above attached document, right
Steve Barber Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 The Spotfire Data Streams installer *includes* StreamBase and Live Datamart functionality in the installer package. You don't have to install StreamBase and Live Datamart separately if you have already installed Spotfire Data Streams.
