Is it possible to connect Spotfire to Share point Excel with external links?

I have already configured a custom connector in Spotfire for Share point Excel. But gives me an error when I try to connect to Sharepoint Excel with external links.

It would be helpful to have some more details about the error and when it occurs. Also, is the external link a reference to another workbook also in SharePoint? Details about how to reproduce the problem will help us diagnose the issue and see if we can come up with a fix.

1. The error occurs during the connection process. Attaching the screenshot below

2. And yes, the external link is a reference to workbook in sharepoint too
