How do I replace empty cells with data from previous time periods

Hi,

I'm trying to write a transformation to automatically replace empty cells with data from the previous time period, in this case, the previous quarter.

I can sort the Town Name, Flat type and Period, but, in Data In Analysis mode, when I get it to Replace Empty Values with Values Immediately Before, Spotfire does those replacements based on the unsorted data order. Upon further research, this is apparently expected behaviour.

Is there a transformation that I can use that will automatically replace empty values (or any other cells that meet specific criteria) with data from the previous quarter, or a specific cell

from the screenshot it looks like you can have a lot of contiguous missing values, so the previous row would often have a missing value too. Can you provide a sample dataset that reproduces the missingness in your data
