When data is updated ("Add as rows to"), how data functions work

I defined a data function (by R script)which use a data table as input, and create a table(output).

("Refresh function automatically" is checked)

When I update the input data table("Add as rows to" with new file), how does the data function work

Does it work on the new data only, or work on the entire data table

If it works on the entire data table, is there any way that make it works on the new data only

I want to save computing resource, because the function is so heavy.

Help me please.
