This article includes a downloadable Spotfire Competency Matrix tool. You can use this Competency Matrix to assess your own skills and that of your team. When developing proficiency in a tool, not all skills are important, at least not right away. It's often helpful to first focus on the skills that are important to the type of role you perform.

Use this Competency Matrix to assess your own skills and that of your team. When developing proficiency in a tool, not all skills are important, at least not right away. It's often helpful to first focus on the skills that are important to the type of role you perform.

In the attached tool, you may select your desired role from the top-right dropdown. Then, each row has a skill level designated from 0 to 4, with 4 being the highest proficiency recommended.

As you fill out "Self Assess" column, you will see "Delta" values shown, which is the difference from your current skill level and your desired role. This will help you prioritize what to learn next.

Ask the rest of your team to complete the assessment on their own, then assess where your team's strengths and weaknesses are, and possibly determine a plan for developing different experts within your team. Note that each role is only a recommendation, and you may have users with shared proficiencies, or expert level proficiencies across multiple roles.
