How to install the ODAC component to make the Oracle connector work in Spotfire Analyst/Web Player.

Introduction

Spotfire® Analyst has a built-in connector connection for the Oracle database. The Oracle connector makes use of In-database technology and to enable the Oracle connector option, the ODAC driver needs to be installed on the Spotfire® Analyst machine. To work in Web Player, install the ODAC driver on all the node manager machine(s) and then restart the node manager service.

Steps To Install

1. Download the ODAC packages from the Oracle website link: https://www.oracle.com/database/technologies/odac-downloads.html
2. Unzip the ODAC packages. Also, make sure that you are using the main ODAC packages rather than Xcopy version. Example: ODAC122011_x64.zip
3. Run the command -> install.bat all c:oracle odac
4. Set the PATH variable present inside the Environment Variables.
5. Now, relaunch Spotfire® Analyst and Oracle option will be enabled.

Note: If you are installing the ODAC driver through GUI then make sure that the selected installation directory is 'C' or any other drive instead of user profile(default location)
