In TIBCO Spotfire® version 7.14, the Spotfire connector for Salesforce has been significantly overhauled. In addition to performance improvements, you can now sign in directly with Salesforce in your web browser, and you no longer need to have a data source driver installed on your computer to use the connector.

Opening and migrating Salesforce connections from earlier versions

Of course, you can use the Salesforce connector in Spotfire 7.14 to open Salesforce connections that you created in previous versions of Spotfire. When you open an analysis with such a connection, you should perform a Refresh Schema action to migrate the connection for optimal performance with the new connector:

    1. Open the analysis and select Edit > Data Connection Properties.
    2. In the Data Connection Properties dialog, click to select the Salesforce connection of interest, and click Settings....
    3. On the General tab of the Data Connection Settings dialog, click Refresh Schema.
    4. To save your changes and close the dialog, click OK.

Opening new Salesforce connections in earlier versions of Spotfire

You can also open Salesforce connections that you create with the new version of the connector in earlier versions of Spotfire (7.11-7.13).

When you open an analysis with Salesforce data that was created in Spotfire 7.14, in an earlier version of Spotfire, you should always perform a Refresh Schema action for the best compatibility:

    1. Open the analysis and select Edit > Data Connection Properties.
    2. In the Data Connection Properties dialog, click to select the Salesforce connection of interest, and click Settings....
    3. On the General tab of the Data Connection Settings dialog, click Refresh Schema.
    4. When prompted to edit the data tables in the connection, click Yes.
    5. In the Views in Connection dialog, to load the data tables, click OK.

    Known issues

Because of the updated feature set in the updated version of the connector, you might encounter some situations where analysis files with Salesforce data created with this connector do not work properly when opened in versions 7.11, 7.12, or 7.13 of Spotfire.

    • If a connection is configured to load related tables, which are not default Salesforce tables, it is not possible to load those related tables in previous versions of Spotfire.
    • If your analysis file contains filters for DateTime columns from Salesforce, data cannot be loaded in previous versions of Spotfire.
