    Analyzing Salesforce.com data using Spotfire Cloud

    Go to https://spotfire.cloud.tibco.com and login. Register for a 30 day trial if needed.

    Once logged in click on New Analysis:

    Click on the Salesforce.com data source:

    Login to your salesforce.com account:

    Note that:

    Single Sign On (SSO) using SAML is not supported.

    You often need to add a security token behind your password. Here is one guide for how to generate a security token:

    Select tables and/or reports:

    Note that:

    Most tables have a large number of columns. Try removing all columns and then adding only the columns you need.

    You can change column names as needed by clicking the pen icon. If you erase the new name the original name will be returned.

    Use prompts to let end users limit the amount of rows retrieved.

    Use the preview function to ensure you get the data you expect.

    Once you click ok any prompts defined will be loaded and you are able to select values from them:

    Start visualizing your data.

    When you are ready to save the analysis, review how you prefer data to be loaded in the Source View:

    Note:

    "Always new data" is default which means no data is stored in the analysis file. Each time the analysis is opened data will be loaded from Salesforce.com.

    "New data when possible" stores the latest data set in the analysis file but it's only used if the data source can't be reached or if the user decides to skip data loading when opening the analysis file by selecting the "Use stored data" option.

    "Stored data" will load the data that was most recently stored in the analysis file. This option lets end users choose when they which to reload data.

    The Source View is also where data can be refreshed manually.

    The above is also available for on premises users holding a Business Author license.

    Analyzing Salesforce.com data using the Spotfire Windows client

    The Spotfire Windows client, Spotfire Analyst, is available for both cloud and on premises users.

    Download Spotfire Analyst from https://spotfire.cloud.tibco.com/tsc/#!/downloads

    Review the system requirements and install Spotfire Analyst on a Windows machine.

    Launch Spotfire Analyst and open your Salesforce.com analysis file by selecting Open From Library (also available from the File menu):

    Now it's easy to join Salesforce.com tables with each other or with tables from other data source using the Add Columns tool.

    A new connection to Spotfire Analyst can also be created from scratch using Spotfire Analyst:

    Spotfire Analyst supports relations in Salesforce.com. it's also possible to define your own relationships.

    Note:

    "Add all related tables" has a maximum number of columns:
